January 2026:

Autumn 2025:

It has been a challenging year on a personal front but things are back on track now. That said, it has been a very exciting and profitable Turf season, with two new Ratings added to my Daily Ratings spreadsheet, one of them created using Machine Learning and AI.

The Telegram group have been receiving daily system selections also, which have proved to be very successful and offer a simple portfolio for those that don’t have the time or inclination to search for their own approach.

New systems for 2025/2026 NH and A/W seasons are also in place now and are being monitored (and backed to small stakes by me) in the hope that we can unearth a gem or too to add to the very promising suite of varies systems.

2025 Plans….

The main focus for 2025 will be on the Daily Combined Ratings and hopefully users will be able to create their own systems and set up their own profitable approaches. I have identified 3 systems to start the ball rolling, each of which had a very successful start to life over the festive period at the end of 2024.

October Results.

Combined Ratings Value selections:

It has been nothing short of astonishing how this new process has performed and in particular, the Turf selections have smashed it out of the park with over 400 points earned steadily over the month. Hurdles are really picking up now and yesterday had a winner at 170 BSP (One Hundred and Seventy)!

That said, for National Hunt and All Weather, I am resetting the spreadsheet from tomorrow and will start again for the season, as I am not a fan of betting on something like this ‘out of season’. So, sadly, that 170 winner will be dropped from the public stats and in all honesty, until we see how they perform, I am not advising that people bet on them yet. It is a Work in Progress and a watching brief is advised.

Wrong Odds Racing (on Wadster Bets Bots):

A small profit this month, which means we have had 3 profitable months on the bounce now and are hopefully achieving the consistent I have been working for, with over 50 points in the last quarter. BOTMan Bets portfolio:

October started well and we stayed in front most of the month, until the last couple of days in fact, but a poor last week or so saw us fall into the red on the portfolio overall. The ‘CM’ systems bounced back and had a decent month in the main, as did WS23, much as expected. You can see the final total for each system on the BOTMan Bets page here.

The main issue was that the most of the systems that have the bigger priced winners did not perform during the month, but they were All Weather and National Hunt systems and have all season long to recover and make us some decent profits. Bring on November.

New Combined Ratings Value Selections Update:

Recently I started work on something new and it looks exciting. For my own racing, I use several Ratings that I have created myself, all focused on each specific race. I also use Ratings from Proform and am currently collaborating with Race Advisor to create systems using a couple of their Ratings as well.

A thought occurred to me, what if I take the Rank for each of the Ratings and add them together, to get a combined Rating/Rank. So I put together a simple system and have been keeping an eye on results. I have also been sharing the selections each days with paid subscribers to my Substack Page ‘The Life of a Professional Gambler‘.

Results have been astonishing, better than anyone could have expected. I posted about the Turf selections on the blog in the week, this was the graph:

350 points up at the time, from 375 bets and just 24 days. It has added a further 20 points since then.

From the 1st October, the Turf selections have made almost 370 points.

A 26% Win/Place Strike Rate and 88% ROI. As I said, astonishing! Right?

The All Weather and National Hunt results were poor, but the season has not started as yet and in reality, those systems would not be active until late October/early November. However, in the last week or so, as we approach the official starts for their respective seasons, they have really sprung into life. Yesterday (Saturday 26th October) there were winners across the board and another brilliant overall return (+78 points).

Hurdles have now made over 60 points in the last week.

It will be an interesting few weeks now as the Turf season ends and the other seasons start. Can the new approach continue to smash it out of the park? We shall see.

September Results:

Overall, it was a poor month, with only 2 systems returning a profit. The ‘star by far’ was AWHP, with just under 26 points profit. Even though it made an excellent return and the ROI was 35%, in terms of average strike rate, it under performed with under 7%, as opposed to the average of 11%. Perhaps when the strike rate rises, we can expect even more? Who knows?

WS21 was the only other system to contribute to the bottom line. It returned just over 1.26 points, but with 2 winners from just 7 bets, that was a decent enough return. This will be no world beater but should be relatively consistent.

Of the others, honourable mention has to go to VBS1. The P&L shows a loss of just over 10 points but the reality is, it had 4 nice winners during my weeks holiday (over 30 points profit in that week) and that would under normal circumstances have shown a 20 point profit for the month. This is a strong time of year for VBS1, so I am hoping for a decent end to the Turf season on that front.

All of the other systems under performed and there were a couple of shockers. CMT2 only had it’s first winner on the last day of the month. 1 win from 24 selections. Ouch! It returned a profit of 12 points the previous month, so it was a big turnaround. There were 10 placed horses in the month though and a disparity between firsts and seconds. Hopefully that will right itself over time. It was similar for the other two CMT systems too.

WS23 was surprisingly (to me) poor. Though it is new and I am expecting it to be a decent system during the winter months, on bad ground. Let’s hope it does not get too far behind before then! One to keep an eye on.

The bottom line for the month, if backing every system selection, was a loss of 36 points. If only backing each selection just once, it would have been minus 20 and in fact, if I had posted during my holiday, that would have been a profitable month. However, you didn’t get the selections when I was away and that is only sugar coating what was a poor month.

October can be tricky too. Let’s hope though that it is kinder to us. Keep the faith.

April 2024 Results….

I will start by saying exactly the same this month that I did with the March results “It is a tricky time of year at the moment, as we transition between seasons. My main systems will not start having selections on the Flat/Turf until June but there will be dribs and drabs on other systems to tide us over.”

That said, two new systems have kicked in now, one live (WS23) and the other ‘to monitor’ (VTS1) and both are showing huge promise. I am hoping that in a months time I will be saying very nice things about both.

BOTMan was once again the best performing service in April by far but both Winning Systems and Wrong Odds Racing had losing months, the later being much the worst.

March 2024 Results….

It is a tricky time of year at the moment, as we transition between seasons. My main systems will not start having selections on the Flat/Turf until June but there will be dribs and drabs on other systems to tide us over.

All of the services were looking good at some stage, with all nicely in front by the middle of the month. Unfortunately, it was a poor second half and we gave back some of our gains. Winning Systems slipped into the red (-6 points) by the end of the month but Wrong Odds Racing finished with almost 16 points and BOTMan with nearly 28. It is a case now of wanting June to come as soon as possible! All of the results are to BSP -2% commission.

February 2024 Results….

A very poor month and we came back down to earth for BOTMan and Wrong Odds Racing. Winning Systems turned a small profit.

Winning Systems has been very slow paced this last few months and after a great year in 2023 (+230 points), it just has not got going yet this year. I strongly suspect that is largely due to the weather and the software is only picking a fraction of the number of selections that it did last year.

February did end in profit though, but only to the tune of 5.5 points:

Wrong Odds Racing (WOR) was a disaster. After a very good start to the service with Wadster Bet Bots and a nice first day of February, it just went downhill and only had 4 winners all month. We finished with a big deficit of 26 points:

The only plus point for WOR members is that they do not pay me, if we are not winning. So no subs to shell out until I recover all those lost points.

If WOR was a disaster, BOTMan was a horror show. It was a slow start to the month, but we were holding our own until about mid way and then BANG. Several horrible days on the bounce and we just could not recover. We lost 53.5 points during the month. However, we are still over 30 points up in 2024:

What is very welcoming about BOTMan though is, even after a rubbish month, only 2 members left the service (and one of those was due to ill health, hopefully not caused by the losing month!). It is a great group of seasoned punters who understand, it cannot always be big winning months and despite losing such a large number of points in February, they are all really supportive and constructive. Obviously, if I lose another shed load of points this month, they will more than likely tell me to do one though!

I will be doing a review of February, as I do at the end of each month (and year) and I am sure I will implement some changes for next year, as it is a notoriously difficult month for betting, for me at least!

As always, the key to success at this game (apart from finding winners) is bank and stake management. That is absolutely vital and months like the one we have just had totally put that into perspective!

January 2024 Results….

Not too dis-similar to December, in that Winning Systems (Value Bets) had another losing month (-8 points), WOR made reasonable profits (+17) and BOTMan smashed it out of the park (+85)!

Another cracker here but it was something of a rollercoaster! A smoother ride would be nicer but I can put up with the huge bumps if the returns are always like this. Value Bets (Winning Systems):

I have to say, Value Bets is my favourite system, it was the start of my journey to BOTMan really and in 2023, it made 230 points profit, so I am hugely disappointed that it has had a couple of losing months on the bounce. That said, it has only lost less than 10 points over the last 3 months and that was after winning 125 during the previous 3. So, in effect, it has made 115+ points in the last 6 months. December (and year end) Results….

A mixed month but by far, the star of the show was the BOTMan portfolio, with over 74 points profit in December. Outstanding! There are a lot of bets with this (400+ per month, hence me using a bot) and the potential for big drawdowns is very real, though with 190 points in less than 3 months, there is also the opportunity to make serious profits. Wrong Odds Racing returned just over 13 points profit but Winning Systems (Value Bets) had the first losing month (-3 points) since July.

2024 BOTMan Portfolio finalised….

November was a very challenging month with some atrocious weather (again!) but we just about managed to squeeze out a profit at BSP. Members may have been able to do better with early prices and/or backing each way, but to BSP and win only, we just about wiped our noses clean:
